Work Life

Glencraig offers people the opportunity to find purpose in a variety of work and creative activities. Meaningful work is very important to everyone, and for us work is not restricted to paid employment. Knowing that what you do matters and is valued by the Community contributes greatly to your sense of belonging, but also your own self-worth.

The Garden

The team in this work area maintain the extensive grounds of Glencraig, ensuring that the site is beautiful all year round.  In the garden we grow biodynamic vegetables, fruit, vegetables and flowers for our community.  These are shared throughout the houses every week.  There is a great sense of well-being from being outside in the 'great outdoors' and being part of a growing process, helping to nourish the community.

Community Produce

The team in this work area processes the fruit, berries and vegetables from our orchards and gardens and provides the Community with delicious organic jams and bottled juice throughout the year.

The Farm

The farm covers a large area of the Glencraig grounds and there are cattle, pigs and sheep and chickens, all of which provide meat, and eggs for the community. Members of the farm team have the opportunity to learn about looking after the land and animals and provide a meaningful contribution to the Community

The Laundry

The laundry workshop provide a vital service, washing and ironing for the whole community as well as supporting residents and those adults joining the community through day opportunities with a valuable and productive activity

Craft Workshop

The team produce craft projects throughout the year, many seasonal items are created to mark annual festivals such as Easter and Christmas and are sold through the Open Day and Advent Fair events.
